Liposomal Vitamin C in vitro study: 10x greater nutrient protection

Overview

Independent in vitro studies to assess the protection efficacy and stability of Zooki Liposomes.

The aim of these studies was to assess the level of protection Zooki Liposomes provide nutrients as they pass through your digestive system.

By simulating the acidic environments of both the stomach and intestines, we can measure the degradation of Zooki Liposomal Vitamin C VS. Vitamin C in its raw, non-encapsulated form over time.

Particle size anlaysis was also done to see how stable Zooki Liposomes are as they pass through your digestive system

The studies found that after an hour in the stomach, there is 10x less Vitamin C destroyed when using Zooki Liposomal Vitamin C compared to non-encpauslated Vitamin C.

Particle size of Zooki Liposomes remained stable throughout testing.

Degradation in the stomach

Zooki Liposomal Vitamin C was analysed under simulated gastric conditions to assess its degradation process in comparison to Vitamin C in it's raw, non-encapsulated form.

Results

  • A burst degradation of more than 50% in Simulated Gastric Fluid (SGF) conditions in the first 30 min was observed for vitamin C (control), whereas Zooki Liposomal Vitamin C registered slow degradation (5%).
  • After one hour in the simulated stomach acid conditions, 10x more Vitamin C had been degraded when in its raw form compared to Zooki Liposomal Vitamin C.

Degradation in the intestines

Zooki Liposomal Vitamin C was analysed under simulated intestinal conditions to assess its degradation process in comparison to Vitamin C in it's raw, non-encapsulated form.

Results

  • A burst degradation of more than 35% in Simulated Intestinal Fluid (SIF) conditions in the first 30 min was observed for vitamin C (control), whereas Zooki Liposomal Vitamin C registered slow degradation (less than 5%).
  • After one hour in the simulated intestinal acid conditions, 10x more Vitamin C had been degraded when in its raw form compared to Zooki Liposomal Vitamin C.
