My qualifications
A registered nutritional therapist (mBANT) with a special interest in integrative sports nutrition focusing on youth athletes and team sports. Adam is also a level 3 personal trainer. Adam has just completed his MSc in nutritional therapy at University of Worcester with his dissertation entitled ‘Nutrition knowledge in professional academy football players: a cross sectional survey’. The findings of this dissertation demonstrated the gaps in knowledge and challenges that youth athletes and their parents/guardians face. This was an area where Adam felt that there was a need to support parents/guardians, athletes and coaches to provide better nutrition information. Adam is a graduate of the Centre for Integrative Sports Nutrition. This perspective on sports nutrition provides a fresh understanding about how health and performance meet for each individual. He takes this approach into his role as nutritionist with Cheltenham Town FC where he works with the academy players from age 9 to 18. He also works one to one in his town centre practice in Cheltenham where he primarily sees sports people from amateur to elite.
My approach
At AE Sports Nutriton, we have a passion for food, health and sport. We also had a belief that people giving advice should be qualified to do so. Co-Founder Ellie and I met after we had both finished our MSc in nutrition. Both practising in the same area, we saw that there was an opportunity to come together to provide expert nutrition services for all. We also felt that we would be well placed to support younger athletes where the importance of food and nutrition goes beyond performance and goes to the heart of health itself. We set up the company to provide expert consultancy service to professional sports teams, excellent individual support of elite athletes and using the skills we have learnt so far in our academic and professional careers to offer a unique online based nutrition programme for the stars of the sporting future. We want to make eating nourishing nutritionally dense foods easy for everyone. Supporting the health of the athlete is the best approach to helping them perform to the best of their ability. Research now tells us that playing sport affects the body in different ways, kick starting pathways that can lead to adaptations that enhance or potentially hinder performance. At AE Sports Nutrition we want to show you how to eat to support these processes putting you in step with your body not against it.
