My qualifications
All my life I have been drawn to work that allows me to help others. After completing my degree in Philosophy and Italian I went into the world of social care, supporting adults with disabilities to live full and independent lives. I worked for a local charity in Edinburgh for 12 years, carrying out different roles including line managing staff. I learnt so much during this time and also completed a qualification in the person-centred approach, the learning of which I have taken with me into my current work. Alongside this work, I also studied for my qualification in massage and started studying for my diploma in Nutritional Therapy through the College of Natural Medicine, a fascinating three year course where I learnt in depth about how to use the power of food to heal the body. During my time at CNM, I left my social care role to focus more time on this fascinating field of study.
I am now lucky enough to be carrying out a range of different roles within the field of nutrition and massage. As well as seeing my own nutrition and massage clients, I am still involved in CNM, working as the Edinburgh Director of Studies. Another of my passions is writing and I write articles and blogs for my own website as well as copywriting for others.
I never stop learning, this year I am completing a qualification as a Health Coach, and I am adding Reiki to my toolkit.
My approach
I believe in the power of food to support not only our physical wellbeing but our mental health too. I know I feel so much better myself when I eat well and I am passionate about showing others how to do the same thing. I am a long-standing vegan and I am passionate about eating mindfully, in a way that benefits other living creatures and our planet as well as our own health. Those are my personal values; I believe in working with my clients to allow them to work in alignment with their own values, whatever those may be.
My favourite Zooki
My favourite Zooki product is the Vitamin D Zooki. It is vegan friendly, which not all vitamin D products are, and it also contains vitamin K, which works with D to ensure calcium reaches the bones. I also love the fact it is packaged in a lipid meaning you don’t need to eat it with food, as the fat aids its absorption. Plus it has a really tasty, yoghurty flavour, I actually couldn’t believe it was vegan!
