How did Pocket Sport start out?
The inspiration to start Pocket came when Ed and Louise saw a gap in the market for an activewear brand to make clothes for working out and living in that didn’t cost the earth. They wanted to produce activewear that's top quality without the inflated price tag. Activewear that can handle running a 5k or running after the kids, so that is exactly what they did! We make the everyday essentials in a wide variety of mood enhancing colours that can be worn all day long and all year round.
What sets Pocket Sport apart from other women’s gym wear brands?
Our focus has always been promoting movement, not just the clothing that people do the moving in. Our mission and vision is "To get more people moving in high quality activewear that goes with everything - other clothes and life plans" and this is central to everything we do.
We want to encourage our community to move as much as possible in their own way. Whether you love a morning run or a stroll around the park, we believe it’s important to keep moving in comfortable activewear so that we feel great both inside and out.
We’ve previously done this through rewarding our customers with discounts the more they exercise and it was very popular, especially during lockdown. Who doesn't want to be rewarded whilst feeling good at the same time? We are currently revising this scheme with exciting things coming soon.
How has Pocket Sport evolved since you started?
Pocket has evolved a huge amount. Not many people will remember, but when Ed and Louise launched Pocket it was a jeans company. We then realised the huge movement towards exercise and fitness and it went from being Pocket London to Pocket Sport back in 2016.
Since then the focus has been on developing products that enable our customers to move with comfort and ease. We have many great design features such as our trademark non-slip waistband grip to more recently large phone pockets on all of our squat proof leggings.
Colour is a hugely important part of Pocket. We want our community to ‘wear the rainbow’ and to lift their moods with stand-out colours for every personality. We offer 4 core colours, Black, Navy, Sage and Fig and all other colours are limited edition drops enabling us to avoid over-production and reduce waste.
For Summer 2022 we launched our first ever printed set which was really exciting as it was also our first set made from recycled fabric. The Claude Logo Print had been 2 years in the making and took some serious development but we couldn’t be happier with the results. The fabric is amazingly soft and long lasting, whilst also retaining the high level of performance our customers have come to expect.
Back in April we also made the decision to start planting trees to help offset our carbon footprint. When our customers shop, we drop seeds. Since April 2022 our amazing community has helped us plant nearly 4,000 trees, which is just incredible!
